Pastor

Chris is ordained in the United Church of Christ (UCC). His winding path took him from his childhood home in Brooklyn Park, MN, to a B.A. from Carleton College in 1993,to a career as a freelance photographer and videographer for 16 years before feeling the call to ministry that led to an MDiv degree from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in 2024.

Chris also serves on the Board of Directors of the MN Conference of the UCC as well as their Committee to Dismantle White Supremacy.

When he’s not at church, he’s with his wife, Johanna, and their son, Heiko. All three love being outside – camping, hiking, biking, and skiing.

“I’m a Pastor because I love how church spaces can embrace people while also challenging them to love more fully. And I’m proud that Spirit of Peace is an open and affirming community – and that we’re always seeking to expand how we live into that declaration.”

Chunchi June Chang

Music Director / Accompanist

A dedicated pianist and music educator,  Chunchi June Chang has earned a Bachelor of Music in Taiwan, a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota.

Her heart for worship is rooted in the belief that music has the power to connect with our inner soul and with one another. At Spirit of Peace, she has found a community where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and appreciated. 

In addition to her passion for playing and teaching music, she finds joy in walking, playing board games with her family and friends, and exploring fun, creative ideas with her kids.

Vince Jacobson

President

Vince is a retired engineer with a Masters degree in Environmental Health who spent most of his career “making technology real.” Vince has been nurtured by St. Paul’s Lutheran, and now, Spirit of Peace since 1972 and is honored to serve as its President.

Laura Eggert

Church Life Chair

Laura is a retired accountant with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Minnesota Carlson School.  She is honored to serve Spirit of Peace with such a dedicated group of volunteers. 

Church Life includes many functions, including kitchen set-up and clean-up, communion preparation, social functions, and children’s camps. 

When not volunteering for Spirit of Peace or Three Rivers Parks, Laura reads, dances, and solves Sudoku puzzles.
